"Not Your Own" is an in-your-face meditation. On this song, Cordoba sticks to their jazz roots while aiming for the listeners heartstrings. It marks a shift for Cordoba away from explicitly political music to a more reflective tone. Sonically, the song is based on an aggressive hip hop beat, but it takes the listener on a wild ride from psychedelic synth passages to fierce call and responses and a ripping guitar solo.
